This is the third set of free practice activities for the Marlins English Language test for seafarers. They are all written in the style of the type of questions that you’ll find in the real Marlins English test.

This is a grammar test using verbs that are commonly used in maritime English

The next exercise is a ‘drag-and-drop’ activity. You have to put the words in the correct column. Each category should have two words.

Another exercise that you have to do is to label a picture by dragging the correct word. Tip – do the words that you know first, and then the ones that you’re not sure of, then have a guess.

The next activity is a grammar test. Drag the words from the column on the left into the blue square to make a correct sentence. The first and last words cannot be moved.

Reading

Here are a couple of examples of what you’ll find in the Marlin’s reading test. You have to choose the best word from the drop-down list. We recommend that you quickly read the whole text to get an idea of what it is about and maybe even think about which words are missing and would fit in the gaps. Then read again more slowly and decide on which words best fit the gap.

The other type, is the match the paragraphs with the headlines.
