This first exercise isn’t an activity on the Marlins English test, but we still think it provides very useful practice. This is because there are so many jobs on board a cruise ship, and this is basic vocabulary that you really need to be familiar with. Read the description of cruise staff talking about their jobs, and try to guess what job they do. Tip: look out for key words to give you clues. For example, if someone mentions glasses and drinks, they’re probably a bartender.
Now we’ll go to the first grammar practice activity. This part is a multiple choice test, so you simply have to choose the correct option to fill the gap. Read the sentences carefully before deciding. Tip: if you’re not sure, try the process of elimination – first try to discard the options that you know aren’t right.
The following activity tests your vocabulary. You have to label things you can see in the photo by clicking and dragging the words. These show things that you would normally find on a cruise ship, either in the interior or out on deck. As always, if you’re not sure of the answer, never leave it blank – just guess.
